NOPE Interviews: The Bounty
Open call. Win a prize, or bugger off.
Listen up. The Open Call starts.
NOPE Journal is officially taking pitches for our next issue’s slots (yes, it will be printed in the #1 NOPE issue), and we are putting actual meat on the table.
The subject of this call is The Interview.
We want you to corner someone who doesn’t normally get a microphone (or freedom, even). e.g. Interview the bouncer. Get that Flat Earther to talk. Speak to the guy who builds doomsday bunkers in his mom’s backyard. Interrogate a local homeless person at 1:00 AM at a diner (give that man a posh one, he deserves it).
As usual, don’t send us polite PR-safe emails with an indie author pushing their new book. Nah. We’ll delete it. We want something alive, a little wild, unconventional (See About for info on what we do here).
We want conversations that go off the rails, crash into a ditch, and catch the bum fire.
Here’s the deal:
The Bounty is a $400 total prize pool.
And that’s for the three best interviews that make it into the issue.
The combined tally decides who gets what:
1st Place: $250 + a book prize
2nd Place: $100 + a book prize
3rd Place: $50 + a book prize
Rules:
Primo, write your piece. Keep it to a maximum of 1,500 words. Then, include a link that points back here, for example:
This piece is competing for a cut of the $400 prize pool in NOPE Interviews: The Bounty open submission call.
(And post the link to your piece in the comments here.)
Secondo, we ain’t making the final call alone. You choose! The Collective, our entire NOPE team, the familia, gets a say.
Terzo, here’s how that’s working out:
On the 15th of April, we will open a subscriber-only voting booth. The final ranking will be a 50/50 split between the subscriber poll and the NOPE Team Board. Yeah, that.
Want to cast a vote? You have to be subscribed to the email list. We don’t let tourists make decisions. Whoever subscribes to the NOPE and is on our mailing list will get a secret single-use voting link on voting day. So, subscribe.
Restack this! Let’s get some traction!
& Keep it weird, keep it wild ✌️
